Increased Load-Shedding has No Effect on Pune City

Load Shedding in PuneOn Wednesday, 11/2-hours was increased load-shedding in the state as natural gas supply to Ratnagiri-Uran power plants was affected because to employees strike in natural gas and oil companies. But, there was no schedule change in load-shedding in Pune.

MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd) issued a statement said that as the gas supply in the state was hit and gas based generation decreased by 1,000 MW. Consequently, in the evening, load-shedding climax hours had to be increased. The statement said-

If the strike continues, the additional load-shedding will continue and may increase further.

Urban areas must suffer load-shedding for 3.15-7.00 hours and rural areas have power cuts for 11.00-7.00 hours for each day at present.

Natural gas and oil companies started the strike on Wednesday. After the strike, the gas supply reduced and power generation to the 600 MW tune from Uran stopped totally, the statement said. Generation from the RGAPL (Ratnagiri gas and Power Pvt Ltd) too decreased from 600-300 MW. Hard works were being prepared to cover the deficit during hydro and other sources. However, demand of evening power was always on the advanced side and additional load-shedding had to be affected, the statement said.

MSEDCL officials told TOI that there was no schedule change in the load-shedding Pune city and no power cuts are affected after 7 pm. Officials said-

Even if we are forced to make any changes, the effect will be very marginal.

Meantime, in Pune, there will be no load shedding on Thursday as the TPTCL (Tata Power Trading Company Ltd) secured 219 MW additional power for Pune.
